Well we got the Outback from the shop last Sat. We had to have our 3rd, Yes 3rd AC unit installed on an 05 outback. Don't even ask me what I think of Carrier right now!
The first one failed 3-4 months past the warranty period. We called carrier [sic] and ask if they would help cover some of the cost since it was a total failure. They -more or less- told us 'Fat Chance'. Well this one failed while still in warranty, so they had to cover it. No wonder the service dept. spoke so poorly of them. Both units failed in the same manner, unrepairable freon leaks. Last time I was out with 'mickey's fam.' their unit failed with the same error as ours. As this is on his $.05, he is still waiting to repair his. Well now we have another two yr. +- window before we need the next one, so I suppose we're ready for topsail. With any luck, we may even make it camping this weekend. Yesterday we found a nice CG near 'Smith lake', west of Cullman.

Let us know about that campground on Smith Lake. Take pictures and give us a report. Always looking for new, good campgrounds.

Don't know for sure if we will make it... Fri. is opening day so it may already be full. I'm sure we will make one of these weekends. The camp hosts took us on a tour of the CG even though it was closed. It pays to ask VERY nicely. The CG is close to, but not on the water. The sites are full hookup, level paved pads with table and fire rings. It has been redone and looks very nice. When we make it, I'll get some photos.

P.S.;
Steady Lemur
You seem to have great luck.

So far so good with our camper's A/C. When we bought it I noticed it was a Carrier. This concerned me a little since I have never been a fan of Carrier A/C units. But we loved the camper and the price was right so we bought it.
I maintain high estate homes on the barrier islands of Indian River county. Carrier A/C units break down about 75% more often than other units.
Our A/C man will only install Trane. If someone insists on Carrier, he tells them to get another company to do the job.
Bottom line...Carrier has a very bad reputation in the home construction business. It does not surprise me that their A/C units in campers have similar problems.
