Visiting the New Orleans area for the Memorial Day weekend. Staying with our Camping Neighbors Bob and Jane.
The park has really rebounded since Katrina, which pretty much destroyed the park. Unless you get out and walk or bicycle the levys surrounding the park it is difficult to tell that there has been any destruction here. I have posted some pictures of the campground as well as some of the local eating establishments. A seafood farmers market is right next door! The prices are simply unbelieveable. Will post more pictures this weekend.
Wonderful place to stay and enjoy the Greater New Orleans area.

That is one nice campground Billy. We will be camping there for sure. The seafood market looks great also. I can not believe the size of those shrimp.

Aside from the size, is the apparent freshness. I stuck my nose into a mess of them. No smell. It does not get any fresher than that!
The crabs are alive and kicking as well.

Ahhhhh, you Cajuns and your seafood. Gator Po' Boys anyone?
Looks like a great park and I wish we lived a little closer. One day we'll make it to the gulf side and bask on those white sand beaches. I've got relatives and a friend living within an hour of Pensacola and another in Monroe, LA. Maybe one year we'll make the trip....... In the mean time enjoy it for me!

Billy, I have got to know. That is Jambalaya on the plate in the background right. On the other plate I see salad, mac and cheese, and shrimp. But what is that with gravy on it?
