June 19 - 27
Anastasia State Park, Saint Augustine, Florida

For all of us history buffs, this is the oldest town in the United States.

You can start making reservations on July 19, 2009. Please make your reservations ASAP because the sites at Anastasia State Park go fast once the reservation window opens. We are trying to get everyone in the COQU loop so please make your request for your site in that loop. If or when that loop fills up just get any site available. Below is a link to the park and one to make reservations on ReserveAmerica. Hope to see everyone there.

If you have never been to this park, Lee (sleecjr) took some pictures of a few of the sites and the loop we will be in. Just click on the link below to see the pictures and get an idea of what the park is like.

When you make your reservation please make a post and tell us which site you have and the dates you plan to attend. Thanks

This state park does not have sewer hookups, only electric and water. We are working on trying to get a company to come in at mid-week to pump out our black tanks. There is a bath house in the middle of this loop also. Several people will be bringing blue tanks to empty gray tanks for themselves and others who do not have blue tanks so gray tanks will not be an issue. All sites are shaded very nicely to help keep the heat down if it is hot.

Sounds like a fun trip we will check on our vacation plans for next year. Is this rally replacing the Top Sail Rally?

well yes, people wanted to try new places and see new things.
im not one to go anywhere the beach and the atlantic ocean meet.
i HATE IT. but i wanted to see new places too.
i can over look the nasty beach... its not the gulf and never will be.

but ive been told by many that this park is great. and tons of things to do in the old town.
we are going here also for our spring break next april.
so ill send back a report on anything we need.
i'll even see if i can get a honey wagon to come by atleast one day that week.

hope to see many more people this rally. we made lots of changes to go here.

thanks DAN & LEE for all the help and leg work on this place.

So does that mean we can go ahead and reserve a site, or are you calling "dibs" on site 131? Should we go through reserve america or call the park?

Mike, you need to go through ReserveAmerica to make your reservations. If you call the park, they will just tell you to call ReserveAmerica. At least, that is what Topsail does and I am assuming all of the state parks will be that way.

Spoke with Marcy and we're in.

I researched the sites and have decided on site 123 (unless it's booked by the time 6/19 rolls around) With a 37 foot 5'er my options appear to be limited.

Looking forward to it!!!!

Mike, you can book your site on July 19th (next weekend). I didn't know if that was a type-o or not when you said 6/19.

Mike,

You may need to go ahead and book another large site. I booked #123 yesterday.

Sorry,

Lester

We have found that sites are a little bigger than what they say. Hopefully we haven't totally goofed but we are going here for Spring Break and have only a 20' site. We called the park office and they said it should be fine . . . :idontno: :whistling: Remember that this place is actually wooded and these FL trees are some times crooked and such so you may have to park your vehicle sideways or something. Lee (sleejr) or Jon (FL Diesel) may be able to tell us better. Can someone who has been before post some feedback on the bathhouses? There have been some questions from some of the mrs.

p.s. We have a blue tank for anyone to use for gray water (no black please!!).

Regarding Anastasia, I recently camped there and reviewed our stay here.

The bathhouses are well maintained. The shower heads are very nice...plenty of power. Lots of hot water. The bathhouse I used was not airconditioned, but I cannot vouch for the others.

Anastasia is not a resort park like Topsail. But it does have a few distinct advantages over Topsail.

-You can drive to the beach, park your car and walk a short distance to the water. You can also ride your bike, or walk. From COQU loop it's not very far.

-The same services available at Destin are available in St. Augustine, with one significant difference. Traffic on A1A or US1 is no where near the congestion of US 98 in Destin. Making a run to Walmart is 15-20 minutes.

-Camping World is about 20-25 minutes from the campground.

Lee emailed me and said he was going over to the park next week to pick out his site. He said he would take some pictures of some of the sites in our loop. We will get them up as soon as possible.

No problem. It looks like site 122 will work for us. There aren't too many that are big enough to accommodate our 5'er.

So.................... Please......................... Nobody book 122 !!!!!!!!!!!!! :nono:

Thanks.

We are in.

We have site 119 from June 13th to 27th. We will most likely be arriving on the Jun 16th so I will adjust reservation later.

Can't wait.

Well, I was going to wait until the 19th, but when I saw how fast the sites were going we went ahead and did what everyone else is doing.

We have site 122 from 06/13-06/27. I guess we'll make our changes on the 19th.

Looking forward to it!!!!!

Mike
