You are going to be close to several campers from here that will be camping at McKinney north of Atlanta. Y'all have a great time and take pictures.

You are right in the area I grew up. I went to school in Rabun Gap which you will see is right next door. If you are interested I know some very good hiking trails in the area and would be happy to suggest them. Not to be missed is the vista from Rabun Bald. Also, there is a funky flea market (I guess you could buy funky fleas there) about five miles south of Dillard on 441, on the right. I know where there are some "hidden" waterfalls you can take a look at. If you can make it, eat at the Dillard House.

Reverie, we would love to hear about hiking trails and the waterfalls. We may have time to squeeze in a few.

Campingnut, come join us! And anyone else who would like to as well. We just booked it the day I posted this, and they have 3 sites left. :)
We'll call you on our way up Friday. We would love to get together!

Our trip was great! The weather was beautiful. We drove over to Highlands and Cashiers on Sat. and the views were spectacular. The fireworks in Dillard were great.

If you get the chance, go see Tallulah Falls and the Tallulah Gorge. It is quite the hike if you take the stairs to the suspension bridge and Hurricane Falls overlook. The walk on the regular trail is easy though, and the sights are breathtaking!

We got home last night around 10. The trip took 11 hours, but the getaway was worth it!
