I thought I would post a mod I did to my tub. I was tired of the "step" tub, so I installed a full tub.

Tearing out the old one was a breeze, I was shocked though to see how little support there was.

So, I proceeded to add support before the new tub was installed, and also lowered the tub by 1 inch. That was just enough to give me head clearance. Here is a photo of the new support braces.

Now I have a full tub, and do not have to get up under the head to shower anymore. Plus I can stand and not hit my head on the roof.

Added as a final touch was a pleated shower door.

A lttle work, but the payoff is nice!

Looks great! I was going to do that mod to my 23KRS.......... bought a 5'er instead. Great job on the install.

I got mine here:

Bathtub Link

It is a fiberglass Lyons tub, cheaper and stronger than a plastic one. Dyers is also great, the first one they sent was cracked from shipping on the corner. They sent a new one out the day mine came, and did not even want the old one back. I had the replacement in 2 days. Now that is service!

I think I had a coupon and got mine for like 115 shipped.

You should caulk it, even though it appears to be a seamless tub! You know me, Mr. "Belt-and-Suspenders"...

Glenn,
That's a fantastic job, and you really planned well, by making it an inch lower to accomodate your height!! ENJOY!
