If I've done this correctly, you should be able to click on the link below and see the pictures from Blythe Island. There are about a dozen sites that are facing the lake. The rest of them are deeper into the wooded area. Some are nearly secluded. The entire area is beautifully maintained. We saw work crews working every day cleaning the bathrooms, emptying garbage, doing landscaping chores, etc. There is a nice covered area where you could have a pot luck dinner and there is no charge to use it. You do have to reserve it though. If I remember correctly, the campsites were about $30.00 per night. They have full hook up with cable TV and Wi-Fi internet. Each site has a picnic table on a concrete pad and a fire ring. Some of the drive through sites were huge! However, none of those faced the lake. The one drawback about a spring ralley in southeast GA, would be the sand gnats. In SE GA, Spring and Fall are the worst times for the bitting pests. When temps are in the 60's and 70's with little to no breeze, they can be bad! We were there at the end of October and the gnats were not bad. I dunno!
There is swimming in the fresh water lake, nature trails and fishing. If you fish in the lake, there is a $5.00 charge per person per day. If you kayak or canoe in the lake, you are charged the same fee. When I asked why, the lady replied that I could fish if I was on the lake! Anyway, I'm sure the fee went towards the maintanence of the campground, so I didn't mind paying it. Overall, I give Blythe Island 2 thumbs up! I'll be returning there. That said, Jekyll Island is also nice. Since I'm home nursing a killer cold, I'll also post pics and narrative for Jekyll.
