Carmen, everyone said they wanted to go back, but most said just not the next year. I don't know, we broke all the rules and no one from the campground said anything to anybody (that I know of). We took over the road, shopping is close, wifi, go-carts. They lent me a ladder and gave me a couple more hours afer checkout so I liked them anyway. Its so close and there is so much to do around the area that we didn't do that I got no problem going back there at all.

Smokey bear was nice because its realy in the mountians (with bears!), its small, had a great community fire pit, and the sites were good. Easy to get to if you go the back way (and I40 is open now). Bad points are we got into trouble there with noise, its small, its a pain to go do things because of traffic, no close shopping for beer, I mean food, and no walmart close by,,,,,,, for Nick :)

I'm good with either. Jerry, what do you think?

Great pics! love it

For the Fall Rally next year, you guys just decide. We won't be able to do Pigeon Forge again b/c it's like 6 hrs (just too far for a weekend) and, well I'm just over the place (been there, done that way too many times along with way too much traffic congestion). Is Tallulah Gorge in GA too far for everyone? Went there a few weeks ago and loved it. Camp sites are a little narrow and tight but when has that ever stopped us?

How 'bout for the Cornbread Festival on 4/29/11 weekend at Raccoon? We may not get to do the potluck and other activities since the fesitval goes all day/nite but we could still gather around the campfire and visit.

Wow, you took a bunch of great ones.

Does anyone else feel thankful that we had such great weather last week (compared to this week)? :nature-smiley-12: Brrrrr :nature-smiley-12:

We really did have some great weather. Our first night there it dropped to 37 degrees and we forgot to turn on the heat! We didn't realize it because we had a really great down comforter on us. However, when I got out of the bed, it was cold! That was a Brrrrr moment! :nature-smiley-12: Thank goodness the heater works well.

You sorry rascals got to stay a week tho!! It takes us 6 hrs to get to Pigeon Forge also and we only get a weekend. Maybe we should start a new thread for some ideas. Btw, Tallulah is kinda N. GA but the route would be different. Just need to hear what everyone thinks. Start naming some central locations.

Glenn did you take the spider home?

I agree start a thread and see Clayton and I was going to get it together at Smokey Bear but i understand the reason for not going back. I cant respond to other locations as iam not familiar with c-grounds in that area. All i ask is keep us in mind.

If I did, I got so many spiders around here, it would blend right in. But no, I have not found a stray...apparently YET.

EDIT: SCRATCH THIS ONE. JUST READ THEY ARE CLOSED DOWN! Happy holiday is recommending this one, but I never stayed there.

Yogi Bear

Only thing I can come up with is the Cherokee area. There are a lot of campgrounds there, my favorite being Happy Holiday. (Pool, Gameroom, nice quiet setting, etc.)

It is not crowded like Gatlinburg area, yet close for those who want to fight that crowd. Also 4 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Close to Maggie Valley and Ghost Town in the Sky. And of course, all the little shops in Cherokee. Oh, There is also a GoKart track in Cherokee.

About halfway between you darn yankees and us decent southern folk.

Casino about 3 miles away.

Kind of a setting similar to Racoon, but with creek sites.

A little further for us way south, but I love that area anyway.

If we are considering Cherokee, maybe we can consider Moonshine Creek again. Funky place but a great place for a crowd.

I think Tallulah is fine for us since that is only about ten miles from where I grew up.

Yup. I thought so. It was 9 hours for us. OK, next year we go to Cincinnati! So, we need a place that is less than 7 hours for everyone! :D Hmmm...is there a place?
