Ok. I know some of you have purchased and used the portable "accordion" fold up canopies. I am wanting to get one, but what do I need to look for and avoid? I will also be using it at the beach in a saltwater environment.
Are there any specific brands you guys like or dislike? Steel or plastic frames?

Well, I think almost everyone that has had a pop-up canopy has had one broken for one reason or another soooo with that being said, maybe the most expensive one really isn't the best IMHO. We purchased a couple off of CraigsList used. The prices on the canopies have really come down from what they originally were. The 12x12 (or bigger) is really nice to put over a picnic table with the screen room when the bugs are bad. Most come with the option to have detachable side walls and screen walls. Lemur likes the ones that have the pull-pin on the poles but, honestly once the sand gets in them they can get really hard to slide. You'll have to grease it up after the beach. You have to remember you may be lugging this thing to the beach and some of these are pretty heavy (and it gets heavier and heavier the farther you carry it). We're bringing a big garden cart/wagon to carry all our stuff but I'm afraid it's going to bog down in the sand. So really, it's just a matter of choosing one, any one - depending on your planned use.

Check out the ones they have at WalMart. I think the name they carry is "First Up". I purchased one of these and I think they are great. Mine is a 10X10. The easy up itself goes for under $100 and you can get the screened and solid side panels for extra. I think the cost of mine was around $160 with both screen and solid side panels. They look like they are built really strong.
