I have State Farm right now, but it is about to expire. I'm wondering if I should have something from a specialized RV insurer, such as Good Sam or RV America. What are y'all using?

I have every thing I own with State Farm for the past 40 years, and no other company has ever come close to matching what I have. Including Good Sam.

I do have a Good Sam extended service plan. I have used it one time for a converter, and it paid with no problem. when I got my new/used trailer they let me change it over and gave me credit for the unused portion.

I have Foremost. The policy paid for itself when I had to be towed in while heading to the Fall Rally. Two tow trucks plus a van for the family. Not a dime out of pocket!

When we bought our TT I was at the dealer and had to get insurance (financed)so THEY suggested American Modern? No kickback there I'm Sure :whistling: They do specialize in RV,ATV,boat etc. When I renewed I shopped around and went with Progressive who also has been in the business of insuring RV owners. I saved some money also.

What you need to make sure is they understand RVers needs. Like if you break down will they tow both the TV and RV at no addtl. charge. I believe that also in the first 3 years my policy on my TT states that if my trailer is totaled (I bought new) they will give me a new replacement of the same trailer or the equivilent if no longer in production. After that it is valued by blue book. Things like that.

I am retired military and I have all my insurance with USAA. When I brought the camper I called them and they told me the camper was covered under my homeowners insurance while sitting at the house and by my auto insurance while on the road. I think my policy went up like $35 every 6 months. Knock on wood, I have not had to use it yet.

Thanks for the replies, Y'all! My State Farm insurance runs $317.00. RV America quoted me $276.00 and Good Sam quoted me $141.00. I have to wonder why Good Sam is so much less. I did run into a post somewhere that someone said their GS insurance went up $200.00 at renewal time. Anyone have experience with GS insurance? I haven't checked with Progressive, yet. I'm not looking at low cost as much as I'm looking for best service and best payout at claim time. Any more info to help me make the best decision will be appreciated!
