Jerry, it is the T-stat that controls the temp and it can not be controlled the way it is, that I know of. I have read of people installing controllable thermostats but it was on the dark side. You can do a search over there and find the threads. What we do is, we just open the hot side just a little along with the cold side and we don't use the hot side by itself for anything.

Sorry I can't help you out Jerry. But, I hear all new 5ver's come with a new thermostat. :whistling: Seriously, It sounds like a accident waiting to happen, with the pressure heat can cause and how hot everything can get.
Be safe and good luck.
