I am starting to get the camper ready for the fall rally. I went out to clean the refrigerator. I always clean it before each trip and I also empty it out after each trip. I also keep the camper plugged in all the time. Anyway I opened the refrigerator and the smell almost knocked me down. First off, the last time we were camping was when my mother passed away so we had to rush home and all I had on my mind was my mother. Well, I forgot to unload the refrigerator. Which would have been fine as long as the camper is plugged in, and it was, but I had no power to the camper. Then it dawned on me that my daughter had ask me about the light in the storage building was not working. Said she turned the breakers on and off and it would not come on. She unknowingly was tripping the wrong breaker and told her which one it was. Well unknowingly, she left the breaker to the camper turned off and the rest is history. I went over to the dark side to search for a remedy for the smell because I knew there was not one here. The remedy is baking soda spread all over the bottom with a bowl of vinegar sitting on top of that and several pieces of charcoal to boot. I even sprayed the sides and top with vinegar. All of this and maybe a week and the smell should be gone. I will let you know if it works.

P.S. I am glad I decided to start on the camper yesterday instead of the week before the rally.

That has to be awful, Leon. I hope you can get the stink out before Raccoon Mountain.

The charcoal will do the trick once you get it cleaned out. I swear the stink can permeate glass, metal and plastic.

That's an interesting combination of ingredients there Leon. I hope it works and I look forward to hearing about the results.

Introducing a new fragrance for the camping man. From the folks that brought us "Go Ahead and Throw the Tuna In the Garbage Can" and "I can always clean the Black Tank NEXT TRIP", comes "Eue de Mystery Meat". Yes, if you thought the reek coming from your fridge is bad due to the power of lousy cooling, just wait until you get a snootfull of something indescribable and rotten because we forgot to empty the fridge.

Available and overpriced from CampingWorld.

UPDATE: After playing around in my lab creating several different concoctions, I think it is safe to say that the smell is pretty much gone.Posted Image Thank God. I am in the process of sending the last and most important judge out to the camper to check it out. Let's hope it passes her smell test.Posted Image
