Wow, can't believe we've been gone 10 days already. We've been going like gangbusters since we left, but are enjoying all of it. So far we've been square dancing 4 nights, went to the Ocala RV show, Sanibel & Captiva islands. We've had temps from 35 to 78 degrees, rain, sun, wind, but most of the colder temps and rain were in upper Florida.

Here are a few pics from our current campsite in Ft. Myers...rest of campground is a real parking lot, but this site is saweeeeettttt. We're in San Carlos RV Park.

Now, in addition to the other places I mentioned, who can tell me where we've been by these pics ?

These 3 pics are from the same location.

All these trees are connected by trunks...maybe it started as one tree ??

And here is one more place we've been to

We're headed somewhere tomorrow we've never been to, so will post more pics later.

Wish all ya'll were with us,

Hello again..
No Jerry, we're not in Kansas, but I can see how you thought so with the weird trees.

Ya'll are correct, we were in Disney World's Animal Kingdom and that is the tree in the center of Discovery Island. All the animals formed into the tree's trunk are simply awesome. We went to all 4 theme parks in Disney in 4 days...pooped after that.

The other trees are at the winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford...on adjacent properties in Fort Myers. Definitely worth the time to tour the property.

None of today's pics are unique to any one place, so I'll tell ya, we took an Everglades boat tour out of Everglades City on the west side of the glades. We were told the air boats scare away the wildlife so took a skiff boat. We saw....

Mangrove forests

lots of different birds..but couldn't get good pics of most of them...why won't they hold still ?

manatees..he's just under the water (and gators) at the Big Cypress Visitor Center

On Tuesday, we head to Sugarloaf Key via Hwy 41 across the Evergades. We were on part of Hwy 41 today and saw a lot of gators sunning themselves. I'll be going dark for the next 4 nites as the KOA doesn't have free wifi and I'm sure they want more $$ for wifi than I'm willing to pay. Maybe we'll find a hotspot somewhere.

Until we return to the mainland....aloha.

Hey folks, last night in the Keys..it's almost too warm here..high 70's, low 80's and a bit humid....but maybe better than the 20-30's at home. You could spend a lot of time here trying to see everything. We took the trolley tour and you have two days to ride the trolley and hear the driver's narration of places you go by. We believe we hit all the spots of interest to us, ate lots of good food.....

Took a tour of the Hemingway house and saw the 6 toed cats..learned a lot about Hemingway..what a character !
Posted Image

Had a cheeseburger in paradise at...where else..also got a new T shirt
Posted Image

Went on a tour of Harry Truman's little White House...didn't know it existed or that many Presidents have used the house for get-aways. Some guy was sculpting a sand bust of Truman at the entrance.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Watched the trained cats on the docks and saw the sunset

Posted Image

I've now been to the Southernmost point in the USA...what else is there ?
Posted Image

Heading to the Miami area tomorrow. A friend from home lived there for a long time and will be visiting the area & showing us around. Have 2 more weeks to enjoy the sunshine before heading home.

Ya'll stay warm now...ya hear ?

Hello again. We made it to Miami in time for the Super Bowl, went out sightseeing, saw the Miami skyline, drove bumper to bumper in South Beach, saw the lighthouse at Bill Baggs State Park. Our campground was pretty nice, used to be a KOA, but is now Miami Everglades RV Park. It's SW of Miami and in the middle of thousands of acres of nurseries that grow tropical trees of all sorts, orchids, plants, you name it.

Campground had a sandlot volleyball court, firepit, spacious sites, nice clubhouse, shuffleboard courts, basketball court and of course a very nice pool and hot tub. Also had a huge tiki hut...big enough for a potluck...can you say rally ?

On our travel days, the furry kids ride in the truck...our youngest will only ride in one position...

Posted Image

From Miami, we headed to Orlando/Kissimmee. On day one, we went to Univeral Studios and really had a good time. It rained that morning on our way there, but let up to light rain and then cloudy the rest of the day. The music shows we saw were really good, with good talent and showmanship.

Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue
Posted Image

And the Blues Brothers, well they were good too

Posted Image

Posted Image

Day two found us in Universal's Islands of Adventure. In the Lost Continent we saw a guy who obviously had ridden the coasters way too many times...
Posted Image

Seems you can only post so many pics per post, so I will post again with the rest.

Also saw a really scary dinosaur in there..
Posted Image

Took a boat ride...didn't get too wet...unlike the day before when I got soaked on the Jaws ride...don't sit on the left side, front row of that one.
Posted Image

Saw a pretty lady

Posted Image

Rode some really good coasters the past two days...On most you can see your picture on the way out...not sure what part of the ride this one was on, but it was the Hulk roller coaster...
Posted Image

Tomorrow, we will hit Sea World...which should burn us out on theme parks for a long time.
See ya later,
Brent & Ava

So happy that you guys are having such a good time. Sea World is one of my favorite places. I haven't been in a long time. You make me want to go back! The pictures are great and the memories you are making must be priceless!

Hi, me again. Sea World did not disappoint. No crowds, so we were able to see and do all that we wanted in one day. I think we saw 5 different shows and I rode the two coasters, which were awesome. We didn't ride Journey to Atlantis as it was just like one we rode in Universal or Disney...can't recall where it was. The ride itself didn't get you too wet, but we saw that they had machines at the end of the ride where people can pay a quarter to spray your boat with water...just when you least expected it.

Here are some pics of the Shamu show, "Believe" and another show with dolphins, birds and performers called "Blue Horizon", both of which I highly recommend seeing along with the "Pets Ahoy" show.

Posted Image

Posted Image

And now for the Manta coaster. Probably the most G's I've ever experienced on a coaster and with lots of rolls, twists and loops. From the second pic, you can see that they take your photo at the point with the highest G forces.

Next up is St. Augustine

Here we are in St. Augustine. Lovely city, lots to see. We took the trolley tour to start with to see what we wanted to see up closer and get a feel for the area. We spent two days touring the city to give you an idea of what there is to see.

Lee set us up for the ghost tour at the Lighthouse the night we arrived in town and then again for a daylight tour. Lee is a super nice guy and I hate that our schedules didn't mesh so that we could get to see him as he was called away the day we went over for the daylight tour. Thanks so much Lee.

I climbed the lighthouse tower just to take this one.

Posted Image

We drank from the fountain of youth so guess you won't recognize us at the next rally...ha ha.

Posted Image

We toured the old jail, boy did they treat prisoners differently back then. If they still did, maybe we wouldn't need such large prisons

Posted Image

We enjoyed a delicious Spanish meal at the Columbia restaurant

Posted Image

This was somebody's winter home, but is now the Ripley's museum

Posted Image

Here is a 600 yr old live oak named "The Senator" because it's shady and crooked

Posted Image

As much as we loved St. Augustine, it's time to head on to Savannah....our last stop before heading home.

See ya soon,
Brent & Ava

Oh my, how time flies when you enjoy what you're doing. Tonight will be our 30th night on the road. We've logged over 2700 miles so far and have a bit over 300 miles to get home. It'll be good to get home, but sure have enjoyed being away. Today we visited Savannah...again took the trolley tour around for two laps of the city...takes about 90 minutes to make one lap. We got off at the River Front for lunch. The layout of Savannah is interesting...all laid out in a grid with lots of parks..I think about 24 of them planned into the layout. Lots of history here..like St. Augustine.

Here are a few pics of the River Front with the new bridge in the background...looks like the new one in Charleston, SC.

Here is the city hall with it's shiny gold dome.

It's been fun telling our story and hope you have enjoyed it or been able to live vicariously thru us. Maybe you can join us for our next adventure....thinking about New England in the fall.

See ya around,
Brent & Ava
