Well, hello everybody, my name is Mitch and my wife is Pam, and we are absolutely new to personal camping. We've been with a good friend a few times in a big Class A (36 footer), but we've never done any tent camping, just one experience with a pop-up many years ago. So under the dubious influence and sadistical urgings of several friends with campers, I just went out and bought a 2011 Aliner A-Frame pop up camper, what many of you big boys would consider a wheel chock. We've got to learn packing techniques, food and cooking methods, all based on a 6.5 x 12 foot floorplan that includes a sink, two burner stove and 1.9 cf refrigerator. It's easy to try to carry too much,we've got to learn camping and minimalist camping at the same time. Asking our friends who all run 8 feet wide and more than 30 feet long is no help, they're living in rolling warehouses.

I've got too many toys and too little time. I still work full time, I love to canoe and have several boats, I have a full dresser Harley Davidson that I like to ride and now I'm taking up trailer camping. Can you hook a 1500 lb trailer to a Harley and drive it with a 14 foot canoe balanced on your head?

Pam loves the Harley, she's kinda ok with the canoeing, she has her own kayak now, and she's looking forward to the camping, I don't know how to tell her that she can't fit 30 pounds of make-up items and 40 pairs of shoes and 3 suitcases of clothes into our little camper and still have room to sleep and eat. Fortunately, she's very tolerant of me and reasonably willing to try new experiences, and she loves to socialize. We're planing on joining the summer rally in Charleston for a weekend.

If there are any experts out there on matchbox living, we could use the input.

Welcome TwoManyToys! Great screen name! Just remember that he who dies with the most toys, wins! I can't help you with matchbox living, but I'll be at the Summer Rally. Looking forward to meeting you and others! :ibbanana:

You need to talk Tom into pulling your Harley's down to Charleston! Let me know what site you get so we can add you to the attendees list.

Mike

p.s. I know the security code to open Mitch's garage door if anyone needs any tools! Hee Hee :whistling:
