We are going to try and get everybody in Loop A, on the back row where you will be backed up to the woods, sites 1,2,4,6,7,8,....42. You can start making reservations 6 months out. This loop is the first sites that everybody likes to reserve, so you have to make you reservation exactly 6 months out, which will start on Dec 9th. If you can not get in Loop A, then start looking in Loop's C and E. Loop's B and D are for popup and tent camping. Be careful when picking a site. Make sure you read the maximum height for campers in the "Alerts and Important information" about each site. Some sites have low hanging limbs. This is located at the bottom of each site's Detailed Information. This campground is water and electric only, no sewer. They do have nice and clean Bathhouses. The campground has paved roads and sites. There is a huge amount of space between each site, around 30 to 50 feet. If you can not get a site without shade, don't fret. While we were down there the temps were in the mid 90's or higher, but there is a breeze that blows just about all the time so it does not feel hot at all. We could sit outside comfortably. The Navy's Blue Angels are home stationed at NAS Pensacola, just across the Bay from the campground, and practice two days a week. You can go onto the base, which is free, and watch them or you can stay at the campground and watch because they fly over it while practicing also. The best view is on base. It is posted on their website the days and times of practice. I just checked and the 2012 practice schedule is not posted yet. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Pot Luck will be on Wed., June 13th

Actually, I found it while doing a little research on Chippokes Plantation State Park, where we were camping last weekend. I checked some of the other parks they had pictures of, and lo and behold, there was Ft Pickens.
While perusing the Ft Pickens pictures, all I can say is, that place has changed a lot since all those hurricanes tore it up back 6 years ago. There is a definite lack of trees now from what it used to be. All that new asphalt makes it look fresh and new, though, which is nice. Hopefully, there won't be any more major hurricanes for a while, because the last ones had it closed down for about 4 or 5 years. During most of that time, the only access was by boat, as the road was washed out.

ok group. its time to book a site for the summer rally.
now the trick here is pick june 2, 2012 and book for 14 days.
you then will have to go back in 18 days and change your reservation to meet the days you want.
they will charge you the full amount when making reservations.
and take off any unused days.
its only $20.00 per night.
you will be charged $10.00 later to make a reservation change.
but the best of all you will have a site , when so many other will not ..

WE WANT THE GROUP TO BOOK LOOP A FIRST ...
SO LETS GET GOING..

We have been camping at Ft Pickens when the Blue Angels practice. If you can find a good, clear spot, without many trees right there in the CG, you can see everything, since the CG is only about 2 miles (by water) from NAS. It is something like a half-hour drive, though. Of course, if you want to go to NAS to take-in the Naval Aviation Museum while you are there, it is definitely worth the trip.

This year we won't be able to make the summer rally. I am consulting this year and any time off, if I had any, is on me. Staying pretty busy at work, so weekend camping in Maggie Valley for us.
Planning for Stone Mountain though. I see it every morning on my commute to work! Daily reminder.
Brian has finals this week and has to be out of the dorm Friday, so we wil pick him up and spend the weekend in Maggie. Then back home Sunday so he can look for a summer job.
I can't believe he survived his freshman year, with pretty good grades too! Biology/pre-med so I need to save some more $ before thinking of retirement.

We will be there. Why don't we just each bring a dish or two. That way no one has too cook a big meal for everyone. I will bring a meat and vegetable. Are we doing the White Elephant?
